Angel Creek could be considered the sequel to Lady of the West. Once of the secondary characters who endeared himself to this reader is a central character in the two tales of love set in the west of the 1800's.
I happen to love this book even though it is not intense, and definitely not as graphic and heart wrenching as its predecessor.
The alpha male in this book went a little to far in my opinion, but his heart was in the right place so I let it go and enjoyed the fireworks between Lucas and Dee. Luckily for him she take no prisoners and he has finally met his match.
The secondary love story is sweet almost to the point of saccharine but it held its own and kept my interest.
There was even a third love story intertwined throughout the novel and it added some real life zest and heartbreak that the book needed.
I think all three of Linda Howards western series are great stand alone novels and I highly recommend them.
Even though they were written years ago they have been reread many times and in certain ways they are even better than her latest efforts which I found lacking.
I've reread it quite a few times so that says it all.

I really loved this story. Linda Howard is becoming a favorite of mine. This was the third book I read of hers, and I have been enjoying myself. This story had a lot of characters I loved and relationships I loved even more. I thought each pairing added to the overall greatness of the story.
Didn't realize I'd already read it. It's a good one.
This must be the third or fourth time for reading this book. It is still one of my favorites. Lucas and Dee make the book work. Each different, but also alike. Two independent people needing the other to be whole..
Head-strong, independent farmer locks horns with ambitious, determined rancher. And the sparks fly! Great love story between man/woman; man/legacy and woman/land. Set in the infancy of our nation as Colorado first achieves statehood. I've purchased first the paperback and now the editions- a re-read that never grows old. I highly recommend it.
Linda has written 3 awesome books that I love... Duncan’s Bride, Ladies of the West and Angel Creek.Angel Creek was a great story about strong women and a love of the land. She expertly creates great visual imagery. Keep up the great stories!
I always enjoy Linda Howard books. This is one of the western series and was't sure I would like it but I did and bought the rest of the series. Book has great characters and true to life places & actions for the time of the setting.
